How we write, source, and review our content
LissnUp is peer emotional support content — educational, not clinical. This page documents how our editorial team writes, cites sources, fact-checks claims, and handles corrections. Every article on this site is produced against these standards.
Editorial Standards
Our mission
LissnUp exists to make emotional support accessible when a person just needs to be heard. Everything we publish is aimed at helping readers understand their own emotional experiences, find practical steps that help, and recognize when a moment calls for professional care.
We are peer emotional support, not clinical care. Our content is educational. It is not a substitute for therapy, counseling, or medical advice. See our service disclaimer for details on when to seek professional help.
Who writes our content
Content is produced by the LissnUp Editorial Team — writers and editors who study peer-reviewed research, consult established mental-health resources, and align every published piece with the standards on this page. As we bring on named contributors (practitioners, therapists, peer-support experts), their credentials and profiles will be listed below.
Named contributors
No named contributors yet. This section will grow as we add practitioners and named editorial reviewers.
Where our information comes from
Every post cites its sources
Statistics, scientific findings, and expert opinions are traced to named studies (author + year), peer-reviewed journals, or established mental-health institutions. Every post ships with a visible references list — click through to verify any claim.
We do not confabulate
If we cannot cite a specific study for a number or claim, we reword it or remove it. Precision without a source is not publishable.
We do not overstate research
Research findings are reported with the language the original paper uses. "Similar" or "overlapping" — not "identical" or "proven" — unless the paper explicitly says so.
Our editorial process
- Draft. Every post starts from a real reader question, search intent, or listener conversation pattern we observe. We do not publish content for volume alone.
- Fact-check. Every statistical claim, named study, and medical/psychological assertion is verified against the source before publication.
- Voice + safety review. Content is checked against our internal voice standards (natural language, real user phrasing, no clinical overreach) and safety rules (no crisis-inappropriate guidance, clear disclaimers where relevant).
- Reference audit. Every external link is verified active before publication and periodically thereafter — link rot gets fixed as it is found.
- Publish + monitor. After publication, we track reader feedback and search-console signals to improve or remove content that does not serve readers well.
How we handle AI
We use AI as an editorial assistant — for drafting, structuring, and refining copy — the same way a writer uses spellcheck or a research assistant. Every published piece is reviewed by a human editor against the standards above. AI does not decide what is true, what is safe, or what gets published.
Corrections and feedback
If you find a factual error, a broken link, or content that could hurt a reader, tell us and we will fix it. Email connect@lissnup.com with the URL and what you noticed. We aim to respond within two business days.
What we are not
LissnUp is not a medical provider, not a crisis service, not a replacement for therapy. If you or someone you know is in crisis, visit our crisis resources page for immediate support.
